Miami State High School’s Student Executive Leadership Team had the experience of a lifetime at a recent trip to North Queensland with Principal, Mrs Sue Dalton, and PA, Taryn Carpenter. This trip was a culmination of their leadership journey and allowed the team to put their leadership learning into action.

The team visited two schools in the Tablelands district; Kuranda District State College, which consists of just under 400 students, with approximately 50% indigenous student population, and Cairns State High School, with a student population just larger than Miami.  The Student Executive Leaders gained valuable insights into the educational differences in Queensland due to geographical location, safety issues and varying economic lifestyles.

The Miami Valued Partners Program would like to thank the University of Queensland for their sponsorship which helped fund this leadership experience.
